[appearing on Anne's fan phone line]

"Hi, it is Sunday, June 11th, 2000. This is Anne Rice. I want to thank you all for the many messages you have left me regarding the Bronte novels, JANE EYRE and WUTHERING HEIGHTS. I am right now reading WUTHERING HEIGHTS for the third time. I'm absolutely spellbound by the novel and very much inspired to go to work on a new novel myself, by Emily Bronte's masterpiece. I do think at this point that WUTHERING HEIGHTS may be the greater novel than JANE EYRE, but it doesn't really matter - - both are fabulous works.

Thank you for all of your tips about dramatizations of these two books. I have seen just about everything, including Timothy Dalton's wonderful performance as Heathcliff and Mr. Rochester.

I do have a movie recommendation to make to you all now - - this is another subject entirely, the movie is called BOYS DON'T CRY. It is an absolutely fabulous movie. It's extremely strong and extremely, how should I say, it is filled with passion and integrity and very heart rending. It is no wonder at all that the star of this movie won the Academy Award for Best Actress, she fully deserved it.

I will give a message later on about the Lestat Fan Club Ball that will happen in October. They are going to do it again at the Palace Theater, just as they did this last year. Richie Champagne is still the President of the Vampire Lestat Fan Club and he will be giving me information that I can pass on to you.

My big signing for MERRICK, my new book, will be on October 17th, 2000 and I will give you more information about this as we get more information about where you can get the book. It will take place at St. Elizabeth's Orphanage, but we will go through a book store as we always do, to distribute the books.

I want to send my love to everyone - leave me a message and take care.
